Narrator Moore has a deep, resonant alto with a no-nonsense quality that perfectly embodies the resolve of America’s first feminists. When quoting Susan B. Anthony, she adopts a smooth assurance; for Elizabeth Cady Stanton, her voice lightens; but because her purpose in voicing these women is informational, not interpretive, she doesn’t voice them as characters. For every speaker, a slight hesitation and change of vocal quality make clear when direct quotes are being applied, thus adding to the adroitness of the presentation. A deliberate pace helps listeners sort through the mass of dates and information, making this excellent resource accessible to a wide audience.
